[Post-event Report] Femtech Fes! 2021 Concludes with Approximately 1,400 Visitors Over Three Days!

From October 22nd (Fri) to October 24th (Sun), 2021, we held the "Femtech Fes! 2021" exhibition and experience event for femtech products at Roppongi Academyhills. Celebrating fermata's second anniversary, this event was themed "Femtech Crossroads: Turning Your Taboos into Excitement," showcasing 157 products and services from 27 countries across 6 regions worldwide. All pre-booked slots were filled before the event, and a total of 1,441 visitors attended over the three days, making it a huge success.
※Infection prevention guidelines were established, and the event was held with the safety of staff and visitors as our top priority.

This event, made possible by fermata's relationships with femtech companies around the world, brought together the latest products and services, from those already available in Japan to those still under development. It became the world's largest in-person femtech event.

Visitors entered the colorful venue through a path decorated with balloons displaying various women's "nagging concerns." Inside the venue, they enjoyed reading explanations and development stories of exhibits divided into seven categories: "Menstruation," "Fertility Treatment/Infertility," "Pregnancy/Postpartum," "Menopause," "Women's Specific Diseases," "Sexual Wellness," and "Other/Mental Health," and by touching and interacting with the products firsthand.

Additionally, the venue hosted talk sessions and workshops on menstruation, menopause, and sexual wellness, featuring celebrities such as popular sex education YouTuber Shiorine (Shiori Onuki) and TV personality IMALU, as well as experts. The event was full of activities designed to turn personal concerns into excitement, including a mechanism for anonymous questions and a workshop to create "Vulva" (female external genitalia) using felt. The venue was constantly buzzing with excitement.

Visitors expressed pleasant surprise, with comments such as "I was moved that there are absorbent period panties. I bought some right away" (some exhibited products were available for purchase on-site), and "I came looking for menstrual products, but I was surprised to see exhibits for pregnant women, menopausal women, and even men. I thought it was an event that everyone could enjoy." Regarding self-pleasure items for women, some noted, "I was surprised how cute they were. They are still considered taboo in general, but I hope it becomes common for women to use such items." These comments revealed hidden needs and concerns, as well as insights into values that were unconsciously taken for granted.

■About Privacy Policy
In this event, to ensure that all visitors could openly express their concerns and share them with others with greater peace of mind, an original privacy policy was formulated based on prior discussions with experts and visitors. Mechanisms were set up to allow individuals to indicate their consent for media coverage and photography, such as distributing wristbands to be worn in the venue and designating tables where photography was permitted in workshops.

Regarding these initiatives, visitors commented, "Some people must have summoned up courage to come to this event. With these wristbands, I think such people can participate with peace of mind," and "This is an initiative specifically for an event dealing with sensitive topics. I was impressed by how much consideration was given."

Going forward, fermata will continue to lead Asia in the femtech market, which deals with many people's private concerns and personal information, and will work with consumers and users to create an environment where everyone can confidently address their concerns.
