[What is Toxic Shock Syndrome (TSS)?]
TSS is an acute illness caused by toxins produced by Staphylococcus aureus. Staphylococcus aureus is present in the nasal cavity, skin, hair, armpits, pubic hair, vagina, etc., and can develop regardless of menstrual cup use, or through cuts or burns. In very rare cases, it can lead to severe symptoms that may result in death.
It is said that Staphylococcus aureus can proliferate and produce toxins more easily if hands are not clean before use, or due to prolonged use or forgetting to remove the product.
To reduce the possibility of developing TSS, please observe the following:
▲Do not use the menstrual cup for more than 8 hours.
▲Do not use if you will be sleeping for more than 8 hours.
▲Before insertion, wash the cup and your hands thoroughly with soap.
▲Do not use if you have a history of TSS.
▲Do not use if your vaginal discharge has an unusual odor.
▲Do not use if you have a silicone allergy.
