Before you start measuring
There is no need to take measurements immediately after downloading the app.
We recommend taking measurements at approximately the same time each day. By consistently measuring at the same time, it becomes easier to observe changes in your body and data trends.

When to start using KEGG

When to start using
We recommend starting to use kegg the day after your period ends.
Even if you receive kegg in the middle of your menstrual cycle, you can start using it on a day when there is no bleeding. There is no need to wait for your next period.

It's important to use it consistently
kegg is a device that, with daily and consistent use, records changes in cervical mucus and helps you identify your fertile window.
In particular, please measure daily for the first 3 days after your period ends. The data from this period will serve as the baseline for your cycle.

Set a measurement time
To obtain more accurate and personalized data, it is important to measure at approximately the same time each day.
Measurements should ideally be taken within one hour before or after your set time (a total range of 2 hours).
Example: If your target measurement time is 9 AM, measure between 8 AM and 10 AM.

Even if you are unable to measure within your set time, it is important to continue measuring. Please measure as soon as you remember to, whenever possible.

*Avoid measuring within 8 hours after intercourse.

Regarding measurement methods

Decide on your posture
Measurements can be taken while standing, sitting, or lying down. To obtain more consistent results, please measure in the same posture each time, as much as possible.

Start measurement with the app
When it's time to measure, tap the "+" button in the center of the app's home screen. Select either "Kegel Exercise + Measurement" or "Measurement Only."

Turn on the kegg
Following the app's instructions, press the button on the side of the device to turn on the power.

Insert the kegg
Following the app's instructions, firmly insert the round part of the device into your vagina. Leave the handle (tail part) outside your body and set it facing forward. If insertion is difficult, lightly moistening it with lukewarm water can make it smoother.
*Do not use lubricants.

Remove the kegg
Once the measurement is complete, the kegg will vibrate twice, and the app will display instructions to remove it. Before cleaning, place the kegg near your smartphone and follow the on-screen instructions to save the measurement results.

Clean the kegg
Once the measurement results are displayed in the app, clean the kegg. Wash gently with lukewarm water and use a mild soap if necessary. Be careful not to damage the metal parts.

Store the kegg
After cleaning, air dry or gently wipe off moisture with a soft cloth. Make sure it is completely dry before returning it to the charger. Storing it while wet may cause malfunction. When storing, keep it out of reach of pets and children.

Charging, maintenance, and storage

Charging the kegg
Plug the charging cable into the charger, ensuring it's firmly connected. Connect the other end of the cable to a UL-certified power adapter and plug it into a power outlet.

Place the kegg device firmly onto the charger, ensuring the metal part of the device touches the contact points at the bottom of the charger.
・Charging: Yellow light slowly blinks
・Charging complete: Green light illuminates

Caring for your kegg
After use, gently hand wash with lukewarm water. A mild soap can be used if needed. Take extra care with the metal parts (bands and tip) to avoid scratching. To prevent malfunction, avoid using hot water and always ensure the device is completely dry before charging.

Storing your kegg
When not in use, store in a well-ventilated, safe place.
*Store out of reach of pets and children.
For long-term storage, it is recommended to store the device in a soft pouch or cloth bag, rather than a sealed container or bag.

Charging frequency
Charge the device according to the instructions in the app. One charge allows for multiple measurements. To maintain battery life, avoid daily charging.

How to read KEGG data

Starting with the Basics
Even if you're busy and don't have time to check every detail, that's perfectly fine.
Here, we'll briefly introduce the key points you should look at first to understand your fertile window.

When you take a measurement with kegg, several indicators are displayed. Using this data, you can more easily understand your cycle and fertile period.

Fertility (Low, Medium, High)
This indicator is displayed after measurement.
It shows an estimate of your fertility for the day, based on data such as your cervical mucus score.

Cervical Mucus Score
A score from 0 to 100, indicating changes in your condition for the day. Generally, a higher score may suggest you are approaching a more fertile state.

Fertile WindowThis indicates the period when the probability of conception is higher.
・Light green: Fertile period
・Dark green: Peak (especially fertile timing)

Impedance Change (Black dotted line)
Impedance is data that reflects changes in cervical mucus in real-time. Around the fertile window, the graph may show a trough-like shape. A downward trend in the values is one sign that you are approaching a more fertile state.
*This display can be toggled on/off on the cycle screen.

About Basal Body Temperature
Impedance is different data from basal body temperature (BBT). If you are tracking your BBT, please enter it in the notes within the app or use the integration feature with Tempdrop.

Ovulation Probability
This predicts and displays the probability of ovulation. On the cycle screen, you can see it as a blue bar. As the fertile window approaches, the display will change. Generally, fertility is considered to be higher on the day before ovulation rather than on the day of ovulation itself. Please also refer to the fertility level, cervical mucus score, and peak display in conjunction with this.

Learn More
In the following sections, we will provide more detailed information about each data point and display.

Likelihood of Pregnancy and Cervical Mucus Score

The Ease of Conception/Cervical Mucus Score (0-100) is an indicator of the likelihood of conception, based on daily bodily changes.

Please note the following:
・A higher score may indicate that you are closer to a state where conception is more likely.
・When you enter your fertile window, the score will be displayed in a green box.
・Generally, a higher score means a higher probability of conception on that day.
・Within your fertile window, there is still a possibility of conception even if the score decreases (the score highlights especially fertile timings).
・A score of 5 or less indicates a state where conception is less likely.

How to Read the Cycle Screen

To view your cycle data, tap "Cycle" from the navigation menu at the bottom of the screen.

The cycle screen displays the following information:
・Fertility and cervical mucus score trends (bar display)
・Changes in impedance
・Possibility of ovulation
・Cycle records (if entered)
・Basal body temperature (if entered)

Cycle Comparison
The "Cycle Comparison" feature allows you to compare data from your last three cycles.

Displaying Basal Body Temperature
If you are measuring your basal body temperature (using a different device), you can record it in the kegg app by following these steps:
Orange "+" button on the home screen
→ "Add Record"
→ Select "Body Temperature" in the "Health" section

Basal Body Temperature Display On/Off
You can toggle the display of basal body temperature from "Body Temperature" in the top right corner of the cycle screen.

Display of fertile window

On the cycle screen, the fertile window is displayed in a light green box.
This display is predicted based on the information entered during account setup and past cycle data (if available), even before you start measuring.

As your cycle progresses and daily measurement data accumulates, your fertility and cervical mucus score will be displayed as vertical bars, allowing you to visually track daily changes.

kegg's algorithm is designed to identify the fertile window as broadly as possible.
This helps facilitate timing and supports increasing the chances of conception.

When you enter your fertile window, the app will display the following changes:
・Your fertile window will be displayed on the Home screen, Cycle screen, and Calendar
・This period is when the chances of conception are higher
・Before entering your fertile window, you are generally not in a fertile state, but as the period approaches, your score may gradually increase

Peak fertility window

The peak fertile window, calculated based on fertility and cervical mucus scores, indicates the time when conception is most likely. To accurately identify this peak, consistent daily measurements are crucial.

  • The peak fertile window is displayed with a green background on the cycle screen. Days with a green indicator behind the daily score bar are within the peak fertile window. The continuation of this peak window is updated based on subsequent measurement results.
  • The peak fertile window is displayed when measurements are taken consistently. It may not be displayed if there are too few measurements or insufficient data. If it is difficult to time intercourse every day during the entire fertile window, it is recommended to use this peak fertile window as a guide for timing intercourse.

Possible ovulation

Ovulation probability is an indicator of the likelihood of ovulation occurring on that day. The higher the number (bar), the higher the probability of ovulation on that day. As you continue to use kegg, the predictions will become more personalized and accurate.

When you enter your fertile window and turn on the "Ovulation Probability" display, a blue bar will appear on the cycle screen.

This bar is a guide to help you understand when ovulation is most likely to occur. Generally, the most fertile day is not the day of ovulation itself, but the day before. Therefore, we recommend using not only the ovulation probability but also the fertile window and peak fertile window as references when timing intercourse.

Change in impedance

The impedance trend (black dotted line) displays changes in cervical mucus as daily data.

  • In each cycle, the fertile window may appear as a "valley" shape on this graph.
  • As cervical mucus approaches a fertile state, the impedance value decreases.
  • As the fertile window nears its end, the impedance value rises again.
  • The entire duration of this valley serves as an indicator of the fertile window.
  • Changes in impedance are also used to calculate fertility and cervical mucus scores.
  • By observing real-time changes, you can visually confirm when cervical mucus is approaching a fertile state.
  • If this is your first cycle using kegg, or if your cycles are irregular, the timing of this "valley" may be displayed slightly differently from the predicted fertile window.
  • With continued use, the data will gradually be optimized to your cycle.

*The impedance graph is not basal body temperature. If you are tracking your basal body temperature, you can enter it as a memo from the orange "+" button.

FAQs

Day 1 of your cycle refers to the day your period bleeding clearly begins. Light bleeding (spotting) does not count as the start of your cycle.

After measurement, "Fertility," "Cervical Mucus Score," and the probability of pregnancy will be displayed in the app.

More detailed data can be found on the Cycle screen. On the Cycle screen, fertility and cervical mucus scores are displayed as bars. *If the score is less than 5, the bar will be displayed very small.

You can also check the impedance changes for that day.

By continuing to take measurements, your data will be connected daily, making it easier to understand the trends in your body's changes.

If the score is less than 5, the probability of pregnancy for that day is low.

Generally, the probability of pregnancy if sexual intercourse or artificial insemination occurs on that day is considered to be less than 5%.

In the first cycle of using kegg, the fertile window prediction, fertility score, and cervical mucus score are calculated based on the information you entered when setting up your account and past data.

Even if you haven't accumulated sufficient personal data yet, kegg can still predict your fertile window.

Throughout the first cycle, your baseline data will be established.

From the next cycle onwards, more personalized predictions and scores will be displayed based on actual changes in your cervical mucus.

To obtain more accurate data, it is important to use the device consistently every day.

The peak fertility period (shown in green) indicates the best time for conception.

The higher the fertility and cervical mucus score, the higher the likelihood of conception.

Furthermore, changes in impedance continuously reflect changes in the state of cervical mucus.

We recommend timing intercourse when your fertility and cervical mucus score is high and the impedance graph shows a valley-like shape.

The fertile window is determined when a new cycle begins.

As the cycle progresses, the fertile window may expand, but the start date and central timing will not significantly change mid-cycle.

It is common to see changes like valleys and peaks in impedance graphs around the fertile window. This is because cervical mucus changes throughout the cycle, and the impedance graph reflects these changes.

Unlike basal body temperature, kegg measurements do not remain high after the fertile window. The "valley" that appears around the predicted fertile window can be considered one sign that the likelihood of conception is increasing.

By using it throughout the first cycle, changes in cervical mucus will accumulate as data and will be reflected in the fertility and cervical mucus scores.

If you suspect that ovulation may not have occurred during the predicted period, please pay attention to the subsequent "valleys" in the impedance graph and use them as a guide for your fertile window.

Yes. Basal body temperature (BBT) can be optionally entered in the daily notes. On the cycle screen, you can toggle the temperature display on/off by tapping the thermometer icon in the upper left corner of the screen.

If you use Tempdrop, you can link it with the kegg app to view both your temperature data and kegg data together.

You can set this up by going to "Profile" -> "Linked Services."

No. Kegg measurements cannot determine if you are pregnant. Kegg data during the luteal phase can show various changes, whether you are pregnant or not. Therefore, the presence or absence of pregnancy cannot be determined solely by specific graph changes or trends.

You can check your kegg app settings by going to "Profile" → "Settings." On the settings screen, you can update your personal information, change app display settings, and more.

The new kegg app introduces new metrics such as "Fertility & Cervical Mucus Score" and "Chance of Ovulation." Your previous kegg measurements can still be viewed as "Impedance Change."

On the cycle screen, as you approach your fertile window, the impedance graph will show a dip. As your cervical mucus approaches a fertile state, the numerical value will decrease. By observing this change, you can visually confirm when your cervical mucus is transitioning to a fertile state.

Yes, you can use kegg even if your cycle is irregular.

kegg's predictions for the fertile window, fertility, and cervical mucus scores are designed for ovulatory cycles. Generally, ovulatory cycles often fall within the range of about 15 to 45 days, and within this range, the predictions and scores tend to function more accurately.

If your cycle is long, at 45 days or more, it's important to monitor real-time changes in cervical mucus based on impedance changes. Look for a valley-like shape on the graph as an indicator of your fertile window. If your cycle is irregular, it's crucial to observe this change over a broader range, rather than focusing on specific days alone.

Furthermore, if your cycle consistently lasts 45 days or more, ovulation may not be occurring.

If your cycle is shorter than 15 days, ovulation may also not be occurring. If this condition persists, we recommend consulting a medical professional.
